Our homebuyer education program consists of a 6-hour group class as well as one on one individual counseling where we will discuss credit, budget, financing and more with our clients. The class is Neighborworks certified, taught by certified counselors and can be used to apply for many special mortgage programs that our local area banks and lenders have. The program is perfect for anyone, whether you are just starting the home buying process or have purchased before, we have the most updated information on documentation, lending and finding a home that’s just right for you. Cost of the class is $95 for
individuals/$150 for couples (scholarships are currently available for those who qualify). Anyone is eligible to utilize this program.
Kankakee Homebuyer Incentive Program (KHIP): The KHIP program offers qualified individuals who purchase in the Kankakee City limits a grant of up to $2,500 to put towards the down payment of their home. Clients must be low to moderate income or must purchase in a low to moderate income census tract, must obtain a fixed rate mortgage and must take the homebuyer education class.
