Kankakee, IL — Mayor Chris Curtis and the City of Kankakee are proud to announce the 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway, taking place Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kankakee Municipal Building. The annual tradition continues to bring the community together by providing free turkeys and Thanksgiving side dishes to local families — made possible through the generous support of local sponsors and volunteers.

“This event represents the heart of Kankakee — neighbors helping neighbors,” said Mayor Curtis. “Each year, I’m inspired by how our community comes together to make the holidays brighter for others. Thanks to our incredible sponsors—Walmart, Berkot's Super Foods, Kohl Apartment Rentals, and Jewel-Osco—as well as David Guzman and all the volunteers who make this possible, we’re able to share a message of hope, generosity, and unity. It’s a privilege to continue this tradition for a fifth year and to serve even more families in 2025.”

The Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway is open to City of Kankakee residents on a first-registered, first-served basis. Participants must register online in advance to reserve a meal package.
