January 05, 2023

Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee City Council has approved the extension of a 24-month agreement through September 2024 with Chicago-based MC Squared Energy Services, LLC, as part of the city's community choice electricity aggregation program, providing a pathway to achieve its renewable energy goals.

Recently a letter was mailed to residents detailing the opportunity to participate in the aggregation program. This program has been approved by and endorsed by the City of Kankakee, and ensures that aggregation participants will not pay more, or potentially less, than customers whose electricity is supplied by ComEd.

Residents who wish to continue in the City's aggregation program do not have to take any action and will automatically be included in the program. Residents who do not wish to be enrolled in the program must disenroll by Monday, January 9, 2023 by completing and returning the disenrollment card included in the mailing, calling 888-423-1396 or emailing kankakeecity@mc2energyservices.com. There is no enrollment, change or early termination fee associated with this agreement.

Residents are strongly reminded to be aware of door-to-door and telephone solicitations from electric providers claiming to represent the City of Kankakee or the City's electric provider. The City of Kankakee City Council does not back any other energy services solicitations. No party representing the City's electric aggregation program will call customers to request their account numbers or any other personal information. Residents wishing to report aggressive or misleading offers should call the City of Kankakee Police Department's non-emergency number at 815-933-3321.
