The Kankakee Police Department will be testing for the position of Police Officer on June 10, 2023, at the Kankakee Community College, 100 College Drive, Kankakee Illinois 60901.

Position Details:
The Kankakee Police Department serves the citizens of Kankakee, Illinois. A community of approximately 24,000 residents, Kankakee is located 60 miles south of Chicago. The Police Department employs 67 Officers who generate and respond to approximately 65,000 calls for service every year.

All applications are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Kankakee, which is an equal opportunity employer including, but not limited to:

1. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
2. Applicants shall be at least 20 years of age at the time of submission of an application, but must be 21 years of age at time of original appointment. Applicants shall be under 35 years of age at the time of submission of application for original appointment unless the applicant falls under one of the following exceptions, as detailed in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
3. Must possess a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License within 30 days from the date of appointment
4. High School Diploma or equivalent
5. No Felony Convictions
6. Must pass medical exam, vision, psychological exam and background investigation.

All applicants must complete an application by June 5, 2023, by 5:00 PM. No applications will be accepted after the 5:00 pm deadline on June 5, 2023

P.O.W.E.R TEST (Physical Fitness Test) Requirement
All applicants must pass the P.O.W.E.R Test in order to take the written exam. The P.O.W.E.R. Test will be offered to applicants immediately following the orientation. Applicants with a valid (within one year of testing date) P.O.W.E.R. Test Card will not be required to take the POWER Test the day of the exam.

Applicants wishing to obtain a P.O.W.E.R. Test card prior to the test date, may contact the institutions below for information.

P.O.W.E.R Test may cost an average of $25.00 to $50.00. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the P.O.W.E.R Test. The P.O.W.E.R Test can be taken at many locations throughout the state including:
