KANKAKEE, Ill. (June 15,2026) – The City of Kankakee, Mayor Christopher W. Curtis, and the Economic Development Agency of Kankakee invite community members, business leaders, and local officials to attend the official groundbreaking ceremony for QuikTrip’s newest location in Kankakee.

The City of Kankakee Department of Public Works will be conducting mosquito abatement operations throughout the City of Kankakee to reduce mosquito populations and help protect public health.

The City of Kankakee invites residents of all ages to participate in the 2025 Christmas Coloring Contest, held in conjunction with the annual Christmas Parade. Participants can download the official coloring page, add their creative touch, and submit their artwork for a chance to win cash prizes.

The City of Kankakee is excited to announce that the annual Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 4:30 PM along South Schuyler Avenue (Oak Street to River Street). This year’s parade will once again bring holiday spirit to the community with festive floats, march bands, and seasonal entertainment for all to enjoy.
