Kankakee, IL – The City of Kankakee has sworn in three, new firefighters this week who have started with the Kankakee Fire Department. “We are excited to have new employees because we have not hired for quite some time. Kankakee, IL – On Friday, September 27, 2019, the city council held a special meeting to consider an ordinance approving the maximum tax allowed by the state of Illinois which is a three-percent sales tax on adult-use cannabis.  The city council unanimously approved the vote by 11-0.
