Merchant Street Art Gallery

Merchant Street Art Gallery of Artists with Autism, Inc, a 501(c)(3), is one of four galleries in the USA serving people with Autism. The mission of Merchant Street Art Gallery is to help people with Autism gain the skills they need to be able to support themselves with their art.   Since people with Autism have deficits in social and communication skills, it is very difficult for them to get hired and to remain employed. So, our gallery incorporates development of these skills into all activities.  The artists are always treated with respect and care and have a friend to talk to when needed.

The gallery has an art gallery which continuously has art hanging and for sale. There is also a Gift Shop selling one-of-a-kind art and gifts like jewelry and ornaments.

There is a new art show every quarter and smaller shows in many other months. The openings of new art shows are open to the public.  Typically, they are held on the first Friday of the month starting at 6:30.

Many other programs are offered in the upstairs studio.  These are designed to .help the artists build skills needed to support themselves with their art. Monthly classes include Hands-on Art History, Art Happenings, and Art Therapy.  Other programs and classes are also offered primarily for people with autism.

The gallery is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:0-4:00. Saturday hours are 10:00 to 1:00. It is also open by appointment.
