Sgt. Hartman Honored for 28-Years of Service

February 07, 2018

Sgt. Randy Hartman was honored at the February 5, 2018 City Council meeting for 28 years of service to the Kankakee Police Department. Sgt. Hartman, 52, retired from the force at the conclusion of his Monday night shift. Hartman was hired on Jan. 1, 1990 and was promoted to sergeant on Oct. 16, 1999. He served in the detective bureau for 23 years.

Deputy Police Chief Willie Hunt served with Hartman the majority of their careers.

"Whenever you lose someone with 20-plus years of experience, it's hard to replace that," Hunt said. "But all good things come to an end. I'm certainly happy he's leaving on his own terms and when he was ready."

Chief Dumas said of Hartman, "I don't think there is a better investigator in the Kankakee Police Department. I appreciate what he's done."

A 1983 graduate of Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School, Hartman plans to remain in the area.
