July 25, 2018

KANKAKEE – Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong joined members of the Kankakee City Council and community leaders yesterday at a ribbon-cutting for the opening of the Farmers Market bike-docking station. The regional short-term bike rental partnership between Kankakee, Bourbonnais, Bradley and Manteno is called Bike 609 after the shared zip codes of the communities.

“Bike 609 will offer Kankakee-area residents a fun and fit way to get around the community,” Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong said. Communities across the nation are benefitting from bike-sharing services, and I am thrilled the service is operating in Kankakee.”

Those wishing to rent a bike must download the Zagster app, available on Google Play or the iTunes app store. Ten bike docking locations are located throughout Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais and Manteno "I appreciate the collaboration between the Kankakee Public Library and the Kankakee Development Corporation in seeing this vision through to fruition," Mayor Wells-Armstrong said. "It is my hope community leaders will continue to pool resources and look for ways to continue to bring amenities to our city."
