MEDIA ADVISORY: CITIES UNITED DELEGATION COMING TO KANKAKEE

KANKAKEE – A delegation from Cities United, a national organization dedicated to reducing violence in cities among African-American men and boys, will be traveling to Kankakee on Tuesday and participating in a community forum discussing local concerns about public safety in the Kankakee region. The event is open to the public and will include comments from former Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges.

On Wednesday, Mayor Wells-Armstrong and members of Cities United will give an update to local media on Kankakee’s selection to be included in Cities United and the next steps in crafting a public safety plan for Kankakee.

Both events are open to the press  

WHO: Mayor Wells-Armstrong, members of the Cities United organization, community stakeholders and the general public.

WHAT: Community Forum discussing public safety in the Kankakee region and how Cities United can help the region become safer, healthier and more hopeful.  

WHEN: Tuesday, August 7 from 6:00p.m. until 7:30p.m.
