Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency Elects Officers

Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency (KRMA) elected new officers during their board meeting held on May 28, 2019. KRMA is governed by a board of directors including seven members from the four member municipalities.

The new officers include Chasity Wells-Armstrong, Mayor of the City of Kankakee who will serve as chair; Paul Schore, Mayor of the Village of Bourbonnais who will serve as vice-chair; and Brian Stump, Mayor of the Village of Aroma Park who will serve as secretary. Additional board members include P. Carl Brown, Alderman (D-7) for the City of Kankakee; Elizabeth Kubal, Comptroller for the City of Kankakee; Marc Wakat, representative for the City of Kankakee; and Rob Romo, Finance Director for the Village of Bradley.

KRMA is responsible for treating wastewater from the four member municipalities of Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais and Aroma Park. Wastewater treatment is also provided to surrounding municipalities by intergovernmental agreements.

It is estimated there are 58,000 persons served within the one city and three villages, 30 significant industrial dischargers and approximately 700 commercial users utilize KRMA's facility.

"I look forward to serving in this leadership role to assure the needs of the member municipalities are met, particularly in light of the anticipated growth within the region. Also, the board is committed to seeking opportunities that will improve efficiency and utilize the facility as an education resource for our communities," said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

The officers are elected on an annual basis.
