Mayor Wells-Armstrong Elected President of Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau

Kankakee, IL –  The Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Board elected new officers during its annual meeting on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. The 11-member board is represented by the County of Kankakee, City of Kankakee, City of Momence, Village of Bourbonnais, Village of Bradley, Village of Manteno, Bourbonnais Township Park District, Kankakee Valley Park District, Kankakee County Lodging Association and Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce.

 

During the month of July, new board members are appointed to two-year terms. A public member is appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the board of directors and serves a one-year term. The board unanimously elected the following officers to serve a two-year term from 2019 through 2021.

 

Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong, City of Kankakee, will serve as President; Dayna Heitz, Kankakee Valley Park District, will serve as Vice-President; Laurie Cyr, Village of Bourbonnais, will serve as Secretary; Mayor Tim Nugent, Village of Manteno, will serve as Treasurer.

 

Additional board members will serve a two-year term and include Dave Baron, City of Kankakee; Rob Bishir, City of Momence; Catherine Wojnarowski, Village of Bradley; Kim Bennett, Bourbonnais Township Park District; Scott Billadeau, Kankakee County Lodging Association; and Jim Johanek, Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce. A public member will be appointed at the August 21, 2019, regular meeting.

 

Hollice Clark, who represented the Bourbonnais Township Park District, is the outgoing president and served on the board since 2012. “Hollice served as the CVB President during a time of transition and change for the organization”, Executive Director Staci Wilken remarked. “He knows the value of what tourism brings to the community and on behalf of the board and our team, we are grateful for his service.”

 

“The board has made a great choice in electing Mayor Wells-Armstrong to continue to advance destination marketing in Kankakee County,” said Hollice Clark. “I look forward to supporting the ongoing efforts to promote the unique experiences Kankakee County offers visitors. The importance of regional collaboration is imperative to carry out the mission of the CVB,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong. “The added boost in local tax revenue is a testament to the continued impact that tourism has on Kankakee County.”
