 “My Healthy Hometown”

Kankakee, IL – The City of Kankakee has partnered with the National League of Cities (NLC) for the My Healthy Hometown Prescription Discount Program. My Healthy Hometown aims to help Kankakee residents save money on everyday prescription medicine costs by showing their discount card to their participating pharmacies.

“Millions of Americans have experienced high costs at the pharmacy and Kankakee residents are no exception.  As prices continue to rise, we must be resourceful and bring solutions to address the challenging issue of accessing health care, including prescriptions,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

By showing a My Healthy Hometown Prescription Discount Card at a participating retail pharmacy, a Kankakee resident can save up to an average of 24% off the retail price of prescription medicine. Also, residents who do not have insurance can show their card to save on the cost of their prescriptions. The discount card can also be used for some pet medications.

“We are pleased to partner with the City of Kankakee to help residents access prescriptions at a significantly reduced cost. Since 2009, the NLC Prescription Discount Program has saved city residents more than $50 million, averaging a 24 percent discount on retail prescriptions. We’re proud to extend those savings to the people of Kankakee,” said Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and Executive Director of the National League of Cities (NLC).

Residents can obtain their free My Healthy Hometown Prescription Discount Card at the City Administration Building, Public Safety Building, Kankakee County Health Department, Kankakee Public Library, Kankakee High School, Riverside Healthcare and AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital locations.
