Service Line Protection Program Available for Homeowners in the City of Kankakee

December 23, 2019

Kankakee, IL – A year ago, the City of Kankakee began a partnership with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), a leading home service repair plan provider. More than 140 Residents now benefit from the program. Through the partnership, Kankakee residents have the option to sign up for service plans to protect against the high cost of emergency repairs to their exterior water and sewer service lines.

“We entered into this partnership to help protect our customers who might not be aware that they are responsible for the maintenance and repair of utility service lines on their property. The City of Kankakee’s water infrastructure is aging just like the rest of the nation’s and more homeowners in the area are discovering that their exterior pipes must be repaired or replaced. This partnership with SLWA gives residents peace of mind,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

According to Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), repairs completed by local contractors saved Kankakee residents more than $4,000 in expenses.

“When a homeowner’s water line breaks or sewer line becomes blocked, it can be an overwhelming situation. All of a sudden, the homeowner is faced with hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a problem he or she probably didn’t even know existed the day before. While we can’t prevent pipes from breaking or being blocked, HomeServe is there to relieve City of Kankakee customers of the stress of finding and scheduling a qualified contractor and the cost of completing the repair. We’re proud to offer this service to the community,” said John Kitzie, CEO of HomeServe USA.

This program is offered at no cost to the City of Kankakee and no public funds are used to promote or administer the program. The coverage is voluntary and available at affordable monthly or annual prices.
