Kankakee, IL – Invisible Fence donated five life-saving pet oxygen masks to the Kankakee Fire Department in order to help reduce the number of pet fatalities. Since 2006, more than 25,000 masks have been donated. Resulting from the company’s efforts, more than three million lives improved, including pets who were saved through the Project Breathe Program.

“The Project Breathe Program goal is simple. We want to ensure that every fire department and rescue unit across the U.S. and Canada are equipped with life-saving pet oxygen masks,” said Ed Hoyt, Director of Invisible Fence.

Each year, it’s estimated more than 40,000 pets die in fires, most succumbing to smoke inhalation. The last time a pet lost their life in a house fire where Kankakee firefighters responded to occurred in 2018.

"Saving pets is certainly within the realm of what we do. These oxygen masks will provide vital support for pet resuscitation efforts,” said Fire Chief Damon Schuldt.

“Our pets are dear to us and we would like to thank Invisible Fence for their generous donation to our City,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
