Kankakee, IL – Previously, the City of Kankakee’s video gaming fees were due February 1st annually. The fees are now due April 30th at the same time as liquor fees. For each 12-month period, an annual fee in the amount of $250 for each video gaming terminal is paid by the business owner under Ordinance number 2020-04.
“Modifying the date in which annual fees are due to coincide with liquor fees will streamline the process for business owners and the Mayor’s office. Business owners who have liquor and gaming licenses will be receiving written notification of the change as well,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
The Video Gaming Act was enacted in July 2009 authorizing the placement of up to five video gaming terminals in licensed retail establishments, truck stops, veteran and fraternal establishments. The state of Illinois recently amended the statute to expand the number of video gaming terminals now authorizing the placement of up to six video gaming terminals for liquor license holders and 10 terminals for truck stops.
The video gaming terminals are connected and monitored by a Central Communications System.
