Important Notice Effective April 6, 2020: Recycling and Waste Services

Kankakee, IL – Republic Services announced in an effort to protect the health and safety of their employees and the communities they serve, including the City of Kankakee, they will be operating under the following guidelines due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following guidelines will begin Monday, April 6, 2020:

  • We will accept cart contents or personalized cans only. Drivers will not be authorized to leave their vehicle to pick up waste outside of the cart or personal cans.
  • Yard waste and bulk waste programs will be suspended until further notice.
  • Recycling service will continue as schedule. It’s important to keep waste out of your recycling container. We may need to use alternative disposal if contamination increase or if disruption to recycling process site.

“The City of Kankakee fully supports Republic Services as we work together through this difficult time. The City will continue to provide services to coincide with these guidelines in an effort to keep everyone safe,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
