Kankakee, IL – Mayor Wells-Armstrong is set to present the 2020 State of the City Address tonight at 7:00 p.m. The key focus of the speech is to give an update on what has been accomplished in the fiscal year, highlight projects in the City of Kankakee, encourage civic engagement and provide further plans to move Kankakee Forward.

Mayor Wells-Armstrong delivered her first State of the City Address in 2018. This year’s State of the City Address will only allow a small group of guests in the room due to social distancing and safety guidelines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presentations will include the Key to the City which will be presented to Kankakee natives Tyjuan Hagler, former NFL football player with the Indianapolis Colts, as well as, recognizing Keenan Love for his recent 46 mile walk from Chicago to Kankakee in honor of George Floyd.

“I am very appreciative that we have Kankakee natives who have moved away, but continue to invest in our community and our young people. Not only do their efforts support us in moving Kankakee Forward, but they inspire generations to come,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

The State of the City Address will be streamed LIVE on Comcast local channel four, the City of Kankakee’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and website beginning at 7:00 p.m. Video will be available for later viewing on the City of Kankakee’s website.
