Kankakee, IL – Beginning next week, Kankakee United will be hosting a virtual expungement fair in partnership with Prairie State Legal Services in Kankakee. Those who are interested will learn more about what criminal records are eligible to be expunged and the next steps moving forward. The virtual expungement fair will take place from June 15, 2020 through June 19, 2020 on the City of Kankakee’s website at www.citykankakee-il.gov.

Expungement is a process in which a record or criminal conviction can be removed or dismissed under legal requirements. After the process is complete, typically an arrest or conviction does not need to be disclosed. While all records are not eligible to be expunged, this could lead to a fresh start for an applicant when filling out an application for a job or housing.
