Kankakee, IL – Mayor Wells-Armstrong will be hosting part two of her Diversity and Inclusion Series on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the fourth-floor auditorium at the Kankakee Public Library from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This event will serve as an informational presentation of the City of Kankakee services. All are welcome to attend; however, this event is geared specifically towards Spanish-speaking residents.

“The City of Kankakee is a diverse community and I am committed to making sure City services are accessible to all residents. Over the past several years, the administration has taken a number of steps to be inclusive of our Latinx population. It is important the needs of all residents are being met,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

Space is limited for the event and no more than 50 people will be allowed in the room at the time to be in compliance of Phase Four under the Restore Illinois plan. Social distancing guidelines will be put in place.

Since Mayor Wells-Armstrong took office, the City of Kankakee has revamped its website including a feature that translates to Spanish and more than 60 languages.  During January 2019, Mayor Wells-Armstrong launched a monthly newsletter that is accessible in English and Spanish.  Also, the City of Kankakee posts to social media in Spanish. 

The first Diversity and Inclusion series took place back in February featuring guest speaker Patricia Santoyo-Marin presenting more information on the Illinois RISE Act. A third Diversity and Inclusion series is expected to take place this Fall.
