Kankakee, IL – Early voting has begun and will continue to take place now through November 2, 2020 ahead of election day on November 3, 2020. The Kankakee County Clerk’s office announced 469 people casted their vote on the first day of early voting, the highest participation they have ever had on the first day.

“I strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to register to vote, get informed about their candidates, and vote in the General Election. Democracy works at its best when every voice is heard. Make sure yours is heard,” said Kankakee County Clerk, Dan Hendrickson.

The City of Kankakee has partnered with the Kankakee County Clerk’s office and the Kankakee Public Library to help those who still need to register to vote. Stop by the first floor in the Kankakee Public Library on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Voter registration is also available at the Kankakee County Clerk’s office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and you can vote the same day. Extended hours will begin on October 19, 2020.

“Casting your ballot to vote is one of the most impactful things you can do for yourself, your family and your community. Many people assume that their one vote does not make a difference, but it does. We all have the power to shape our future and voting allows us to do so,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

Due to COVID-19, all General Election voters are encouraged to cast their vote prior to Election Day by early voting or vote by mail. The last day for the Kankakee County Clerk’s office to receive an application for a vote by mail ballot is on October 29, 2020.
