Kankakee, IL – Gathering with loved ones for the holidays will look different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you are cooking more while working from home or just want to try something new, the City of Kankakee wants to know your favorite recipes!

The Love My City, Love My Recipe holiday campaign kicked off today and will run through Monday, December 21, 2020. Those who wish to participate can submit their favorite holiday recipe at www.citykankakee-il.gov in the following categories:

• Drinks
• Appetizers
• Soup and salad
• Main dishes
• Side dishes
• Desserts

All recipe submissions will then be compiled into a free eBook ready to download by Christmas Eve for the community to share and enjoy. Community members who participate will also be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card for groceries. The winner will be announced on Christmas day.

“In my family, it is customary practice to demonstrate love to others by cooking for them.  Our city has generations of families which include some great cooks and this holiday season will be a great time to highlight family traditions and creativity. Furthermore, this recipe book will allow our community to connect through a universal outlet - food. I look forward to seeing all of the recipes and encourage everyone to try out a few this season," said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
