Mayor Wells-Armstrong Provides Additional Resources to Navigate the Pandemic

December 24, 2020

Dear City of Kankakee resident,

As the year 2020 is almost at its end, we continue to be proactive in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, you should have received the first letter from me while we were in the early months of the virus. We have continued to provide updates on our social media platforms and on the City of Kankakee’s website at www.citykankakee-il.gov. We remain in close contact with our health professionals and state legislators as more details continue to become available. The purpose of this letter is to share more resources with you.

Thanks to the CARES Act, Bounce Back Kankakee is one of the main resources used to help provide financial assistance to our local residents and business owners. I am happy to report more than $117,000 assisted 32 businesses in the City of Kankakee and more than $18,000 assisted residents at this time. Our Economic and Community Development Agency (ECDA) is still working through applications for residential assistance.

Applications for Bounce Back Business will reopen in January. We will continue to provide updates on our social media platforms and website.
