City Meetings to Resume In-Person

February 02, 2021

Kankakee, IL – City of Kankakee meetings will resume in person with a room capacity limit of no more than 50 people under Phase 4 guidelines in the Restore Illinois plan. Mayor Wells-Armstrong made the announcement at Monday night’s city council meeting.

“Our numbers have significantly declined. I want to thank everyone who is working hard to stop the spread of COVID-19 by wearing their masks, washing their hands and keeping their distance. To keep the chambers open, we must be mindful that everyone does not have access to the vaccine; therefore, we must lead by example and properly wearing face coverings to reduce exposure to others. We will continue to manage through this pandemic and implement appropriate mitigation measures,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

The next city council meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. due to the city observing Presidents’ Day on Monday. Face masks must be worn over the nose and mouth while in the council chambers for safety measures.

City council meetings and all committee meetings will continue to broadcast LIVE on Comcast channel four, the City of Kankakee’s YouTube channel and website at www.citykankakee-il.gov. To view the schedule for all meetings, visit https://citykankakee-il.gov/citycalendar.php.
