Kankakee, IL – After serving 19 years with the Kankakee Police Department, Sergeant Tim Kreissler has been promoted to lieutenant.

“It feels surreal. I love being a police officer. I am proud to work with the men and women who serve on the Kankakee Police Department, and I am also proud to serve the citizens of Kankakee. I have always been loyal and dedicated. I look forward to serving them well as lieutenant,” said Lieutenant Tim Kreissler.

Kreissler joined the United States Navy after graduating high school. He was honorably discharged in 1988 and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Illinois State University.

Previously to becoming a police officer, Kreissler volunteered at the former Community Resource Center in Kankakee working with youth in partnership with Ron Jackson and the late Patricia Hudson who served as the Executive Director of the center.

“Volunteering at the center actually led to my passion with working with the citizens of Kankakee. We helped the youth with their homework and we played a lot of basketball! I would love this to continue within the community because we all look forward to the impact it could bring. I hope to continue to bring those same values to our fellow officers and the community,” said Lieutenant Tim Kreissler.

Lieutenant Kreissler began his career with the Kankakee Police Department in 2002. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2009 and has been a supervisor in the detective division for the last five years. Kreissler also taught classes for the Citizen’s Police Academy which he and Police Chief, Frank Kosman, hope will return later this year.

“I would like to congratulate our new lieutenant, Tim Kreissler, on his promotion. He has done a great job as a leader in our department, and we look forward to even more contributions from him as lieutenant,” said Police Chief, Frank Kosman.

“I would like to thank Lieutenant Tim Kreissler for his service as he continues to dedicate his efforts towards our residents and also congratulate him on his recent promotion. He has been a great asset to the community. We believe he will serve well as lieutenant in his new role,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

Lieutenant Kreissler credits his wife Kerry, and his daughters Delaney and Teagan for their support throughout his career.
