Kankakee Walmart Bomb Threat

Today, June 8th, 2021 at approximately 10:45 am KanComm received a phone call from an unknown caller advising of a bomb inside Walmart, 505 Riverstone Parkway, Kankakee Illinois. Officers from the Kankakee Police, Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police, and the Illinois State Police responded to the call.  Officers working with the store’s management evacuated the business and began a search. The Kankakee County Emergency Response Team (ERT) who were training nearby also assisted with a search of the building.  After approximately 1 ½ hours of searching no devices were located inside the business and the store was reopened to the public.

The Kankakee Police Department is investigating the incident and requests anyone with information to contact Detectives at 815-933-0426.
