Kankakee, IL – The City of Kankakee, in collaboration with the Kankakee County Hispanic Partnership, is excited to announce its annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This vibrant event will take place on September 14, 2024, beginning at the City of Kankakee Farmers Market and continuing at the Kankakee Train Depot.
The festivities will kick off at the Farmers Market with a morning of dynamic folkloric dance performances, lively music, and engaging Zumba classes. Attendees are invited to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Latin American culture through these energetic and entertaining activities.

“The City of Kankakee hosts this annual Hispanic Heritage Month event to highlight the richness and variety of Latin American cultures,” said Mayor Christopher Curtis. “I hope everyone enjoys the great food, awesome music, dancing, and all the wonderful festivities this event has to offer. This is becoming a tradition that not only the families of the City of Kankakee enjoy, but friends from all over the county look forward to attending each year.”
National Hispanic Heritage Month, formally recognized by an Act of Congress in 1988, acknowledges the contributions of Hispanic and Latino-Americans in the United States and celebrates their heritage and culture.
