City Council, May 6, 2019: As the City of Kankakee transitions members of City Council, the present families of all (current and incoming) Kankakee elected officials led the City Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. The following aldermen and alderwomen were administered the oath of office in unison by Kankakee City Clerk, Anjanita Dumas, R.M.C.: Michael Prude (Alderman of the First Ward), Michael O’Brien (Alderman of the Second Ward), David Crawford (Alderman of the Third Ward), Danita Swanson (Alderwoman of the Fourth Ward), Carmen Lewis (Alderwoman of the Fifth Ward), Michael Cobbs (Alderman of the Sixth Ward), and P. Carl Brown (Alderman of the Seventh Ward). Mayor Wells-Armstrong and Deputy Chief Hunt honored members of Kankakee Police Department, Lt. Jay Etzel, Ptlm Michael Herscher, Ptlm Jason Burse, and Ptlwn Lacie Zingre, for earning the Officer of the Year Award from the Eastern Illinois Law Enforcement Administrative Association. As well as, Kankakee Ptrlwn Melvina Calvin was awarded the Paragon Award from the Kankakee Community College Criminal Justice Program and Olivet Nazarene Criminal Justice Program. The City Council approved the appointment of Police Chief, Frank J. Kosman.
