New Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Requirements

Kankakee, IL – There have been some changes in the requirements to smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in one- and two-family dwellings. In order to be compliant with the current standards, the following changes will be enacted immediately.

 

Economic and Community Development Agency (ECDA) Recovers Approximately $1.5M in Grant Funding

Kankakee, IL – Kankakee Economic and Community Development Agency (ECDA) was awarded $1,509,212 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to be used for projects in the 2019 – 2020 program year. Along with $563,741 of funds from the current year, ECDA staff advocated for $945,471 of unspent funds awarded in previous years to be made available

 

City of Kankakee Appoints New Deputy Fire Chief

Kankakee, IL – Captain Eric Boness has been appointed as the Kankakee Fire Department’s Deputy Fire Chief effective February 1, 2020. Boness has served in the department for 29 years as Shift Commander, Company Officer, Training Officer, and EMS Coordinator. In 1999, Boness was promoted to Lieutenant and to captain in 2005.
