Search Crews Continue Efforts Along Kankakee River

Kankakee, IL – On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 2:02 p.m., the Kankakee Fire Department received a phone call of an overturned boat in the Kankakee river. Fire Department personnel responded along with the Kankakee Police Department. Eyewitnesses accounts corroborated seeing one to two people in the water downstream of the Washington Avenue Bridge.

 

Reducing the Risk of Arson during Arson Awareness Week 2020

Kankakee, IL – Arson is the second leading cause of fire-deaths in the U.S. according to the United States Fire Administration. This week marks Arson Awareness Week from May 3 – May 9. To raise more awareness, the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is sharing tips on how to reduce the risk.
