Kankakee, IL - In the past week, George Floyd, yet another unarmed black man in the United States has died at the hands of a white police officer who knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes while ignoring the please of Mr. Floyd who repeatedly stated, “I can’t breathe.”
Kankakee, IL – As many parts of the state reopen their economies today, the American Sustainable Business Council has partnered with more than 60 organizations and leaders across the nation to further discuss the best practices and plan for reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kankakee, IL – Mayor Wells-Armstrong has been appointed for the Restore, Reinvest, and Renew Board (R3). The R3 Board was established in 2019 under the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act. The goal is to direct cannabis revenues toward communities that have been disproportionately impacted by systemic policies related to the War on Drugs.
