As of 5:40 pm, Aqua Illinois, in consultation with the Illinois EPA has lifted the boil order advisory for the City of Kankakee and the surrounding area.

Aqua has announced that all residents in Kankakee (along with the Aqua service area County wide) should use bottled water or boil water to be used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth or making ice.

The City of Kankakee has allocated $350,000.00 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to fund the ‘Kankakee Works’ grant program for small businesses who faced negative economic impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic. The City expects to award up to 20 businesses with this one-time grant on a reimbursement basis for expenses that must have occurred

Youth advisory board Members are needed! We are looking for youth between the ages of 12 to 20 to be part of the Board. The Board will have different meetings, activities, giveaways and more!

As part of the City opioid settlement, on December 19, 2023 the Fire Department presented a check for $5,000.00 to the opioid taskforce.
